STATE AND PROSPECTS OF ENERGY INDUSTRY ENTERPRISES

Abstract

A detailed study of the state and prospects of the energy sector after a full-scale invasion is due to the fact that the energy sector of Ukraine is a basic and priority sector of the state economy and forms a significant share of the national economy. The state and prospects of development are investigated through a detailed analysis of the structure of the energy industry of Ukraine using renewable sources, such as solar energy, wind power and water power, in the new critical conditions of external influences. The author analyses analytical information on the components of Ukraine's energy sector that are currently involved and effective in shaping the economy. The dynamics of changes in electricity consumption, which has an impact on the high level of energy intensity of the national economy, is systematised. The direct dependence of additional opportunities for integration into the European market and attraction of investments on active participation in international cooperation of the energy sector is established. A number of challenges that hinder the development of the energy sector, such as high depreciation of energy capacities, dependence on imported energy resources, insufficient funding for the renewal of power grids and the need to develop renewable energy sources, etc. are highlighted. The advantages and directions of energy centralisation combined with the availability of private capital in certain segments of generation are demonstrated. The article presents the characteristics and performance indicators identified in the course of the study, taking into account the conditions determined by the military operations in Ukraine, which have a direct impact on the prospects for the development of the energy sector. A study of the structure and dynamics of Ukrainian energy companies, as well as an assessment of the effectiveness of project management in this sector, has identified key features, trends and challenges that affect the stability and development of energy companies. Energy companies perform a strategic function in Ukraine's economic system, ensuring energy security, reliability of electricity supply and integration with European markets. The analysis showed that the dynamics of the companies' operations has undergone significant transformations under the influence of both internal factors (structural reforms, infrastructure modernisation, transition to market mechanisms) and external threats (military operations, damage to critical infrastructure, the energy crisis in Europe, and sanctions policy against the aggressor country). One of the key aspects of the industry's development was the implementation of international project management standards, which helped to improve the operational efficiency of enterprises and optimise management processes. In particular, the implementation of the Standard for the Management of International Projects and Programmes at NPC Ukrenergo has created a clear system for coordinating international initiatives, increasing project control and ensuring adaptability to changing operating conditions. The project management performance assessment revealed the importance of a structured approach to investment project management. The companies' investment projects are divided into two main types: international investment projects (aimed at technical re-equipment, reconstruction, and modernisation of infrastructure) and projects to improve operational efficiency (focused on transforming business processes, organisational structure, and management approaches). This division helps to increase the manageability of initiatives and improve the results of their implementation. The results of this study suggest that effective project management in Ukraine's energy sector plays a crucial role in ensuring its sustainable development, strengthening competitiveness, and achieving the strategic goals of energy independence and European integration.
